We demand change! Training in advocacy for human rights
In Greece, during the last years, a large number of civil society organizations (CSOs) have been operating, with significant impact and experience, which have been greatly called upon to deal with and manage urgent social conditions. Thus, objectively, a deficiency in the development of advocacy strategies emerged, as priorities were set by extraordinary circumstances. There is thus a wide range of potential for CSOs’ empowerment in advocacy.
The aim of the project is to train and transfer expertise and methodology and hence promoting advocacy, linking it to other actions (research, campaigns, communication and activism), creating synergies and developing the capacity to develop and implement a strategy for advocacy.
The actions include the production of digital, openly available material, the development of a digital platform, the organization of seminars, webinars with Amnesty’s staff, the development of pilot advocacy actions scripts, etc. At the end of the project, a skillshare workshop will be held to exchange experiences with beneficiaries & publishing research on advocacy in Greece.
Beneficiaries will be 30 CSOs, who are or are willing to advocate for human rights. There will be a blending of NGOs & grassroots organizations to break the silos, while there will be support for more than150 individuals from civil society with full access to materials. The number of beneficiaries will be increased geometrically, in the medium, term through synergies.
Amnesty International will design, implement and manage the whole project on the basis of its international experience in both advocacy for human rights education. The expertise, the methodology and the experience of AI & the scientific, technical and managerial skills of our Greek Section render the candidate capable to carry out such a project with the greatest possible impact in comparison to resources.
