Society for Democratic Participation
Society for Democratic Participation is a non-profit organization with a vision of a more democratic and fairer society for all. Its mission is to promote transparency, efficiency, and good governance at local and regional level, promote citizens’ participation in shaping policies that affect their daily lives and the development of their local communities. The organization advocates for an approach that demonstrates good democratic practice and clear strategic benefits for the citizen.
Through information and education, Society for Democratic Participation creates opportunities for the empowerment of the citizen regarding his/her rights and his/her participation in the public debate. Also, it supports every citizen, body, and organization that wishes to involve the citizens in the public decision-making process.
Furthermore, the organization promotes a culture of cooperation between citizens and local government bodies in order to enhance the democratic process. It advocates for the application of the legal framework by the local and regional authorities which governs the execution of best administrative practices as mandated by National and European law.
