Human Rights for Beginners 2 is the second part of Human Rights for Beginners, that was implemented during 2020, in cooperation with the Council of Europe. Its goal is to educate secondary education teachers in critical aspects of democratic culture and human rights that have been identified within the school milieu.

Human Rights for Beginners 2 aims in bridging the gap between formal and non-formal education, a gap that has been already identified by the CoE and educators. Its modus operandi is to be proactive and transfer important knowledge to the school environment, while addressing important issues and behaviors that arise due to ignorance, before their birth or formation.

The main activities will be two two-day educational seminars for secondary education teachers that will be held in Trikala, Ioannina and Kalamata and will be based on 6 specific subjects. To secure the diffusion of knowledge within the school environment, two winning proposals (that will be voted by the participants) regarding the implementation of the material covered and group projects will be implemented, with student participation. The main activities are supported by other fore and background activities (website, design and prints, record keeping, evaluation, closing event).

The main beneficiaries are the participant educators and their students. Furthermore, beneficiaries will be the students’ parents, future students and a wider audience that participates in the educational processes. By the project’s end, 80 public school teachers and more than 200 students will have gained deeper knowledge of the seminar’s content. More than 500 people will be more aware in issues pertaining to human rights.
