#OurStories: Supporting golden age’s human rights

Discover through this short video one of the 128 projects implemented under the Active Citizens Fund Greece programme.

The project “Supporting golden age’s human rights” focuses on defending the rights and quality of life of elderly people facing serious psychosocial problems, such as dementia and depression. In regions of Central Greece, and in particular in the Regional Units of Fthiotida and Evia, the project organised information and training activities for civil servants. The combination of these actions with advocacy initiatives for information and empowerment of family caregivers, aimed at defending the rights of elderly people with dementia and depression in order to ensure their good health and quality of life. During the implementation of the project, 297 elderly people and their families were informed about their rights and acquired specialised knowledge about caregiving. In addition, 79 civil servants were trained in supporting older people with dementia and depression and more than 1,450 people were informed about the rights of the elderly.

The “Supporting golden age’s human rights” project was implemented under the Active citizens fund project, by the Greek Association of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Chalkida and its partner Greek Carers Network EPIONI.
