Union of working consumers of Greece

Union of Working Consumers of Greece established in 2009 by the initiative of leading cadres of the General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE) aiming to the improvement of the actual standard of living, the quality of life, the level of consumer consciousness as well as the economically rational consumer behavior and the social responsibility of the consumers.

EEKE maintains 59 Regional Local Branches situated in 59 regional cities all over Greece. EEKE represents consumers in national institutions, such as National Market and Consumer Council, Hellenic Accreditation System and participates in Governmental Council for Private Debt Management. EEKE is founding member of the European Consumer Association named European Consumer Union (ECU) and member of the European NGO named Finance Watch.

With staff’s, scientifics’ and volunteer’s network support, EEKE operates an organized complaint department, a specialized legal department for financial and banking complaints, conducts researches and studies, intervenes in legislative and administrative actions, takes part in consultations in and out the Parliament and the Parliamentary Committees, supports over indebted people, and conducts social solidarity actions for vulnerable people such as elderly, deprived, unemployed and disabled people and refugees. EEKE is specialized in adult education and performs series of customized events and educational programs aiming to consumers’ awareness in the subject of consumer protection, indebtedness and social economy. EEKE is a leading consumer organization in digitalization of consumer movement since it has developed Traveler Rights GR, a mobile application for travelers’ rights protection.
